What each part does

The supplier and customer blocks identify the parties. INV-024 is a unique reference. Two dates distinguish issue from supply. The work lines explain the charges and lead to the total. The due date and reference help the customer pay, although they are practical additions rather than replacements for required fields.

A sole trader using a business name also needs an address where legal documents can be delivered, as GOV.UK states. VAT registered businesses should check HMRC’s VAT invoice rules. See the complete checklist or make an invoice in your browser.
