Free UK invoice generator — no signup required, your invoice data stays in your browser.

Fill in your business and customer details, describe the work or goods, add prices and download a PDF. This free tool is useful for a one-off invoice. Enter the supply date and, if you are VAT registered, select VAT invoice and set one rate for the whole invoice. The PDF shows that rate against each item. Check the final PDF against your own records before sending.

What should a UK invoice include?

Include a unique invoice number, supplier and customer details, invoice and supply dates, what you supplied, amounts, any applicable VAT and the total owed. The exact details vary for sole traders, limited companies and VAT invoices. These details come from GOV.UK’s invoice requirements. Use our UK invoice checklist before you send yours.

Reading the invoice preview

The top identifies the supplier, customer and invoice number. The middle describes each item and its price. The bottom shows the total and payment information. For a worked example, see our annotated invoice example.

Invoicing as a sole trader

Use your name as well as any trading name. If you use a business name, include an address where legal documents can be delivered, as GOV.UK explains. Our step-by-step UK invoicing guide explains the full process.

Keep payment and numbering clear

Use the payment terms guide to choose a due date, and the numbering guide to pick the next unique invoice number from your records.
